Hatters Division 2 Team Secures Playoff Semifinals Spot with Dominant Win
Following another successful unbeaten regular season (18-0) winning the Pool I league, the Hatters Division 2 basketball team moved into the playoffs with much anticipation of competing for the title.
Their first opponents in this year’s playoffs were the Thames Valley Cavaliers II, who were competing in their first-ever Division 2 playoff appearance.
From the tip-off, it was evident that the experience and strength of the Hatters would be a formidable challenge for the visiting Cavaliers. The Hatters demonstrated their dominance early on, establishing a commanding lead that they would never relinquish.
With precise ball movement, stifling defence, and sharp shooting, the Hatters controlled the game from start to finish. Despite the Cavaliers’ efforts to break through the Hatters’ defence, they struggled to find their rhythm against the seasoned playoff contenders.
As the game progressed, the Hatters showcased their depth and versatility which proved to much for he Cavaliers to handle. Recent British Hall of Fame Inductee, Helen Naylor, showcased her talent putting up 31 points on the board ahead of Sarah Cooney with 24 points.
In the end, the final score reflected the Hatters’ dominance, with a resounding victory of 107-42. They have now secured their place in the playoff semi – finals and play London All Stars in the next round at the Canon Medical Arena on 21 April 2024 at 17:30pm.
