Georgia Gayle has become the first player to re-sign with Sheffield Hatters for the 2025/26 Women’s Super League Basketball season, following her standout performance in the recent play-off final.

The 28-year-old guard, who was named MVP in the Hatters’ title-winning campaign, has committed to another year with her hometown club.

“Everybody knows what this club means to me – it runs in my blood,” said Gayle. “I’m really happy to be coming back for another season in Sheffield.”

A product of the Hatters development system, Gayle has spent the majority of her career with the club, beginning at All Saints Sports College and continuing into the Canon Medical Arena era. Aside from a brief spell in Spain after the pandemic, she has remained a constant presence in Sheffield both as a player and coach, helping develop young talent through the junior Hatters programme.

Head coach Vanessa Ellis welcomed the return of the Great Britain international, saying: “I’m delighted to have Georgia with us again. She knows our values inside out and brings a fierce competitive spirit that’s vital to our success – both on and off the court.”

Ellis added, “Georgia had an excellent season last year, and I’m excited to see what we can achieve together in the new campaign.”

Gayle’s commitment is a strong signal of intent as the Hatters look to build on their recent success and chase further silverware in 2025/26.
