Sheffield Hatters dominate Liverpool in Women’s WNBL

In a dominant display of offensive firepower, the Sheffield Hatters cruised to a resounding victory over Liverpool in their Women’s Basketball England WNBL Division 2 clash on Sunday 3rd
December. The final score read 107-45, with the Hatters showcasing their superior teamwork and individual brilliance throughout the game.
From the outset, Sheffield set the tone with Elyssa Ioannou draining a deep three-pointer to open their account. Liverpool attempted to respond early, with points from No.11 Russell and
No.6 Rogan. However, Sheffield’s defensive tenacity proved too much for Liverpool to handle, forcing them into turnovers and allowing the Hatters to capitalize on transition opportunities.
The Hatters’ dominance continued throughout the game, with Helen Naylor leading the scoring charge with an impressive 36 points. Naylor’s ability to score from both inside and outside the
paint proved unstoppable, while Sarah Cooney added another 28 points to the Hatters’ tally. Cooney’s impact extended beyond scoring, as she dominated both ends of the court, securing
rebounds and drawing fouls with her aggressive play.
Ashling Nee also contributed a season-high 14 points to Sheffield’s offensive explosion, demonstrating the team’s depth and scoring prowess. The Hatters’ ability to spread the scoring burden among their players was a key factor in their convincing win.
