City of Leeds v Sheffield Hatters U14C
Saturday 9 December 2023
On Saturday, December 9th, the game between Hatters and Leeds was highly intense, but unfortunately, we ended up losing. As the team captain, I identified areas where we could improve:
Layups: Improve by gently shooting the ball on the backboard, avoiding rushing or panicking during layups.
Communication as a team.
Help by getting free (v-cut or L-cut).
Rebounds: Instead of waiting for the ball, we should actively jump for it and grab it.
Fouls: To reduce fouls, ensure our hands are up and avoid leaning over or making contact when defending.
Passing: Be more mindful of passing to teammates when it’s clear and minimize turnovers to the opposing team.
Here are the positive aspects I observed:
In the second half, we displayed increased effort in hustling for the ball, executed tougher defense, and maintained better focus on the game.
Special recognition to Harmony for earning “Hustler of the Match” for her outstanding efforts.
Despite being behind on the scoreboard, we worked diligently to catch up, demonstrating determination to secure the ball and increase our score.
We earned numerous free throws by driving for the basketball.
Overall, we put in a stronger effort during the second half, and everyone deserves commendation for their hard work.
Although the final score was 55-34, and we didn’t secure a victory, we continued to play with determination. Let’s keep pushing forward, HATTERS!
