The B. Braun Sheffield Hatters team secured a decisive win in the Trophy Quarter Final against the Durham Palatinates. Despite facing resilient efforts from Durham, Sheffield maintained a double-digit lead throughout the game, starting from the opening minute.
The first half of the Betty Codona Trophy Quarter-Finals showcased an energetic atmosphere from a full house at the Canon Medical Arena. With a spot in the semi finals at stake, the game promised competitiveness and did not disappoint.
In the initial minutes, Sheffield dominated, establishing a nine-point lead led by Emma Eichmeyer’s impressive performance, combining accurate long-range shooting with aggressive drives. However, Durham quickly responded, with Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby contributing significantly, bringing her team back into contention.
Madison Washington’s outstanding efforts for Sheffield extended their lead, but the Palatinates, displaying resilience, narrowed the gap through collective scoring and improved defence. As the teams headed into halftime, Sheffield held a 34-29 lead.
The second half saw both teams exchanging confident plays, with Durham attempting to reduce Sheffield’s lead. Despite a determined effort from Durham, Sheffield consistently responded, and Nicolette Fairley’s stellar performance in the third quarter created a substantial 16-point advantage for Sheffield going into the final quarter.
In the closing minutes of the game, Sheffield maintained control, efficiently managing the clock and extending their lead to 18 points. Despite Durham’s persistent efforts to reduce the margin, Sheffield secured a 72-61 victory, leading throughout the entire game.

Player of the Game: Emma Eichmeyer earned the Player of the Game title for her outstanding performance. She contributed 21 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, playing a dominant role in Sheffield’s victory.
